Legend cup - Football 2026



About the Format : Our purpose of conducting a tournament of this nature is to share the joy of the game and revisit memories. Hence, we request the participants to play in the true spirit of the game and respect the rules.



General Guidelines


• NO SMOKING and NO ALCOHOL permitted on the grounds and around the ground. This is a serious offence, and anyone caught doing so will be taken to task and the entire team will be disqualified.


No rough play or sliding tackles will be entertained. We all have work and lives to get on with, please refrain from sliding tackles.


No arguing with the referees or with the organisers.


There is no offside rule. However, players cannot block, obstruct the opposing goalkeeper by shielding within the D area. This shall be considered an infringement.


The referees will use yellow and red cards during the tournament. First Yellow will be a warning. A Second yellow will immediately result in a red card, and the player will be kept out for the rest of the game. No substitution or replacement is allowed for a red carded player.


A single direct red card due to rough play or any other reason the referee decides on the same, the player shall be suspended for the remainder of the match. Player cannot be replaced team shall finish the game with a player less.


Suspension or dismissal from the tournament due to unruly behaviour, poor sportsmanship or any derogatory incidents shall apply to players and teams. This shall be at the discretion of the referees, organisers, and the tournament director.


• At all times, decisions of the referees are final. No arguments or appeals will be entertained.


The schedule of matches has been prepared in the best interest of time and ground availability.


Teams not reporting to the field 5 mins beyond the scheduled kick off time, referee shall award the opponents with a walkover. Please respect all rules of the venue and organisers.

League Phase


·Group stage games shall be for 12 minutes respectively. 6 minutes per half with a 2 min break between each half.


There will be side-over at half time

.- 3 points for a win and 1 point for draw ·In the group stage, if two teams are tied with the same number of points, then, the following parameters will come into play:

(a) Goal Difference - GD (difference between goals scored and goals conceded)

(b) Goals Scored – GS (if GD is the same, then GS will come into play)

(c) If both GD & GS are the same, then ‘Knock-Out penalties will come into play (one penalty each till one team wins)



Semi-Finals, and Finals


·If the match ends in a draw, a penalty-shootout will decide the winner.In the penalty shoot-out, each time will get five kicks. ·If still tied at the end of five kicks, then ‘Knock-Out penalties will come into play (one penalty each till one team wins)
Common Rules for all Phases (League and Knockout) ·

Toss at the start to decide Start or Side. ·

After a goal is scored, play will start from the centre. ·

For penalty shootouts, goalkeeper can be changed/ substituted. ·

In case of ‘Knock-Out penalties’, the same player can take a second penalty kick only after six kicks (meaning, if ‘A’ takes the first kick for his team, his next chance to take a penalty will only be on the seventh kick). ·

Goalkeeper is not allowed to hold the ball from a back pass from his team player. If the goalkeeper uses his hands to receive a back pass, then a penalty is awarded to the opposing team (if the infringement has occurred inside the D area) or a freekick is awarded to the opposing team (if the infringement has occurred outside the D area) ·

Only Substitute Players allowed to stand inside the ground for each team, rolling substitutions. ·

Substitutes should enter the ground only from one side of the ground as decided by the referee and only after the player being substituted has left the ground. ·

Referees’ decision will be deemed final.
